(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's soccer team surrendered an early goal but rallied past visiting Muhlenberg College, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Miller Memorial Field.
The Mules struck in the 15th minute as Matt Athanas-Linden served a ball down the left side and Mark Walter fed a pass to Chris Holmes, just inside the 18 for a quick 1-0 lead.
A foul plagued first half and a red card on the bench with just under 10 minutes to play before the break may have rattled the Red Devils but they regrouped and quickly tallied the equalizer after halftime.
Brock fed senior Lionel Reid-Shaw (Hillsborough, N.C./Orange) in the 76th minute to put the Red Devils on top and just over a minute later Colin Fagan (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South) found the back of the net with an assist from Adam Moreland (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville) to give Dickinson a 3-1 advantage.
The Red Devils outshot the visitors 10-6 and held a 4-2 edge in corners for the match.
Junior John Baney (Ridgewood, N.J./Montclair Kimberly Academy) earned the win in goal, making a pair of saves on the night.
The Red Devils have secured the number two or three seed in the Centennial Conference playoffs and could potentially face Johns Hopkins in back-to-back matches, depending on the outcome of Saturday's regular season finales.
Dickinson travels to Johns Hopkins on Saturday for a 6:00 pm kick-off at Homewood Field.
