Red Devils Blank Stanford to Advance at CSA Nationals

(New Haven, Conn.) – The #25-ranked Dickinson men's squash team opened the 2019 College Squash Association Team Championships with a 9-0 decision over #32-ranked Stanford University on Friday night.

The Red Devils are the top seed in the Conroy Division, looking to defend its #25-national ranking.

The Red Devils jumped out to a strong start, posting back-to-back straight set wins in the first two matches. They combined to allow just 16 points with scores of (11-2, 11-4, 11-1) and (11-3, 11-2, 11-4), respectively.

Dickinson continued to dominate, sweeping all nine flights in straight sets to advance to the winner's bracket on Saturday.

Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) rolled to a 3-0 win the third flight, posting scores of (11-1, 11-5, 11-1). Tanay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur, India / Delhi Public School) claimed the sixth flight with an (11-1, 11-2, 11-4) victory.

Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) had a strong start, going 11-1 in his first set. He closed out the match, (11-9, 11-3). Junior Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) rallied from a 1-0 deficit to win the top flight with a strong finish (9-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-1).
