Red Devils Sweep 5000 at New York Armory

(New York, N.Y.) – The Dickinson men's and women's track & field teams competed at the historic Armory in New York City at the NYU Invitational on Friday night.

The Red Devil men and women had strong showings in the 5000-meters with juniors Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) and Sarah House (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) running to wins. Descavish clocked a winning time of 15:03.81 while House crossed the line in 17:34.38.

Senior Duncan Hopkins (Lancaster, Pa./JP McCaskey) claimed the silver in the 5000, posting a mark of 15:11.20.

Emma Johnston (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) and Tessa Cassidy (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) crossed the line third and sixth in the 5000-meters.

Isabel Cardi (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) claimed bronze in the mile with Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) placing sixth. Yanega was sixth in the 800 meters as well with sister Sarah Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) adding a ninth-place finish.

Senior Eric Herrmann (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown) ran to bronze in the 3000-meters, posting a time of 8:34.26.

First-year Titus Clark (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) had a top-10 finish in the long jump, clearing 6.23 meters.

The women's 4x400 relay consisting of S. YanegaLiana Tabtiang, Cardi, and A. Yanega placed fourth with a time of 4:14.05.

The Red Devils will host the Du Charme Invitational next Sunday, February 10, at 10:00 am.
