Descavish Wins, Red Devils Second at Light Up The Night

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's cross country team had a strong start to the 2019 season, placing second at the eight team Light up the Night Invitational on Friday night at Dickinson Park.

Senior Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria) won the individual title with a time of 15:50, edging out Elizabethtown's Sam Gerstenbacher by two seconds.

First-year Ryan Heskin (Floral Park, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) placed seventh overall with a time of 16:17.

Sophomore brothers Charles Scharf (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) and Christopher Scharf (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) both had top 10 showings, placing ninth and 10th with times of 16:26 and 16:28.

First-year James Marks (West Hartford, Conn./Hall School) had a strong start to his collegiate career as well, finishing in 16:57 to hold off teammate Odin Bules (Union Mills, Ind./South Central) by just one second.

Elizabethtown slipped past the Red Devils for the title 40-43 with Gettysburg claiming third with 66 points on the night.

The Red Devils return to action on September 13, traveling to the Little Three Championships at Franklin & Marshall.
