(Logan Township, N.J.) – The #22-ranked Dickinson men's cross country team ran to a seventh-place finish in the men's championship race at the 29-team Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils turned in some strong individual showings in the men's championship race, led by a top-20 finish from senior Bryce Descavish (Ebensburg, Pa./Central Cambria), coming across the line in 24:58.
Sophomore Christopher Scharf (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) was just two seconds back, placing 21st with a mark of 25:00 flat. Classmate Charles Scharf (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown) finished with a time of 25:10.
First-year Ryan Heskin (Floral Park, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) clocked a time of 25:53 and senior Odin Bules (Union Mills, Ind./South Central) posted a 26:14 to round out the Red Devils' top five.
The Red Devils captured eighth in the men's open race, featuring 19 teams on the day. First-year Teddy Mercer (Cortland, N.Y./Homer) led the way, edging sophomore teammate Ayinde Summey (Denver, Colo./The Field School) by just one second as they crossed the line with marks of 26:25 and 26:27, respectively.
First-year Shane Coll (Huntingdon County, Pa./Upper Moreland) had a time of 28:39 with classmates Coltin Albitz (Pottsville, Pa./Blue Mountain) and Charlie Miske (Pelham, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) added marks of 28:49 and 29:23.
The Red Devils will be off next weekend before traveling to Gettysburg College for the Centennial Conference Championships on November 2.
