(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson softball team scored a lone run in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim the nightcap with a 1-0 decision after dropping the opener to visiting Frostburg State, 3-1, in extra innings.

The Bobcats capitalized on the international tie-breaker to produce two runs in the top of the eighth to win game one, 3-1.

The Red Devils took a 1-0 lead after Paige Hahn (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth) singled and Hannah Brenner (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) followed up with a double to put Dickinson on the board in the second inning.

Madison Milaszewski (Rutland, Mass./Sutton) was perfect through three innings until Amber Keene tied the game with a solo homerun in the top of the fourth.

The game remained tied until the eighth inning when the Bobcats started with a runner on second. Claire Hanlon singled to score Olivia Ford and made her way to third to set up a sacrifice fly for Taylor McCarty for a 3-1 win.

Milaszewwki did all she could, holding the Bobcats to just a pair of hits and recording eight strikeouts.

The Red Devils used a double-steal in the fifth to score a run and relied on some outstanding defense to force the split with a 1-0 victory in game two.

Hahn reached on an error and pinch-runner Natalie Krzywiec (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) advanced to third on a sacrifice from Brenner and a single by junior Lindsey Keller (Leonardtown, Md./St. Mary's Ryken).

Krzywiec came across to score on an error on a double-steal as Keller swiped second.

The Bobcats threatened on the seventh as Aliya Ramey led-off the inning with a triple. The Red Devil infield came up huge to strand her on third with two ground-outs to Brigitte Gutpelet (Norristown, Pa./William Penn Charter) and a line-out to Julie Siecinski (Edison, N.J./JP Stevens).

Gutpelet made an outstanding play on the final out as the ball ricocheted off the pitcher's mound and took a crazy hop. She collected the ball and gunned a bullet to first for the final out of the game.

Keller went 2-for-3 in the nightcap, recording two of the Devils' three hits as Kaitlyn Meihring suffered the loss in a three-hit effort.

Kat Vill (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) allowed just four hits in the start, going 3.1 innings. Killian Kueny (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) came on for the final 3.2, holding the Bobcats to just one hit to earn the win in relief.

The Red Devils move to 6-8 on the season. They are on the road on Thursday, traveling to Susquehanna University. They return home to start Centennial Conference play with a 1:00 double-header on Saturday, hosting Ursinus College.
