(Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team rallied down the stretch but saw its season come to an end, falling 63-59 at Washington College on Saturday.

The Red Devils jumped out to a 12-3 lead as Kate Deutsch (Marlton, N.J./Camden Catholic) converted a three-point play and fed classmate Jennifer Kremp (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) for a three-pointer, with just over three minutes to play in the first quarter.

Junior Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) added another three-pointer as Dickinson held a 15-9 lead at the end of the period.

Washington took control in the second quarter, holding the Devils to just three points. Padalino hit a three-pointer before a 14-0 run gave the hosts a 28-18 advantage at halftime.

The Shorewomen kept the lead in double-figures for most the third quarter, holding a slim 21-20 edge for the period.

Back-to-back scores from Deutsch and senior Jonica Brown (Mohnton, Pa./The Hill School) quickly pulled the Red Devils within seven before Bridget McLaughlin answered with a three-pointer with just over 10 minutes to play.

Sophomore guard Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) kept the Red Devils within striking distance from the free throw line and Kremp knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 56-52, with just over five minutes on the clock.

Deutsch finished an assist from Maeda and Kremp would twice pull the Red Devils within one, but Washington was able to hold on for the win.

Deutsch finished with a game-high 21 points, hitting 7-of-11 shots from the field and 6-of-7 from the line. Kremp tallied 12 points, five rebounds and three assists while Padalino reached double-figures with 11 points and three rebounds.

The Red Devils just miss the playoffs, finishing 13-12 overall and 10-10 in the Centennial Conference.
