(Annville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's lacrosse team opened the season with a 13-7 win at Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind a quick three-goal effort from first-year Erika Bloes (Riverside, Conn./Greenwich).
Junior Eleanor Kaestner (Glyndon, Md./Franklin) tallied her second goal of the game, finishing an assist from Anne Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn./Greenwich), in the final minute of the half to give Dickinson an 8-3 advantage at the break.
Dunster struck to open the second half and dished out an assist to Kaestner at the 17:03 mark to make the score, 10-4.
Three straight goals from first-years Greta Holt (Alexandria, Va./Episcopal), Madie French (Paoli, Pa./Conestoga) and Maddie Parker (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) stretched the lead to 13-4, with just over four minutes to play.
Lebanon Valley closed out the game with the final three goals for the final of 13-7.
Bloes tallied three goals and an assist in her collegiate debut while Kaestner added a hat trick as well. Dunster struck twice and handed out two assists, and French found the net twice on the day as well.
First-year goaltender Avery Priest (San Rafael, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) made eight saves and picked up three ground balls. Tara Cassidy (Glen Rock, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy) and Sarah Benziger (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) each caused three turnovers.
The Red Devils start the season, 1-0. They are on the road on Wednesday, traveling to Messiah College for a 4:00 pm opening draw.
