Joseph Howard (Hiram ’18) joined the Dickinson women’s basketball staff prior to the 2018-19 season. A graduate of Hiram College, Howard spent three seasons as a student assistant coach, including two under Head Coach Emily Hays, who also came to Carlisle from Hiram.
Howard brings a strong coaching and strong basketball background to the Red Devil program. He was elevated to a head coaching position at The National Basketball Academy after serving as an assistant coach in 2017.
Howard is involved with all aspects of the program, assisting with recruiting, practice and game preparation and additional administrative duties. He has extensive experience in the skill development of guards and post players, providing individual and group instruction.
He has served as a Summer Camp Site Administrator at the Greater Cleveland YMCA where he designed and implemented all summer training plans, was responsible for budget and compliance, oversaw staff and worked to establish open and effective lines of communication with parents.
In 2019, Kate Deutsch '22 was named the D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region and Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year while the Red Devils remained in the hunt for a playoff berth right up unitl the final game of the season.
Howard earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Management from Hiram in 2018.
