Women's Tennis Goes 3-0 in Orlando

(Orlando, Fla.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team edged St. Scholastica, 5-4, to open spring break play in Florida on Monday. They added a 6-3 win over the University of Northwestern St. Paul and slipped past Schreiner University, 5-4, on Wednesday.

Senior Lauren Altschuler (Malvern, Pa./Eastern) partnered with first-year Lexi Epstein (Falmouth, Maine/Waynflete) for an 8-3 win in the top doubles flight against St. Scholastica.

They each added another point in singles as Altschuler claimed the top flight (6-0, 6-0) while Epstein posted a (6-1, 6-2) decision in the number three spot.

First-year Hanna Butler (Gibson Island, Md./Severn School) had a strong showing as well, going (6-0, 6-0) to win the second flight and joined classmate Neve Brennan (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) for a 9-7 point in doubles. 

Altschuler added a pair of doubles wins on Wednesday and earned two points in the top singles flight. She rallied from a 7-3 deficit in a third set, super tie-breaker against Schreiner, coming back to win and decide the match with the Devils fifth point. 

Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood Oxford) claimed a pair of singles wins on Wednesday while Butler earned a doubles point with Altschuler against Northwestern and partnered with Brennan for win in the nightcap. 

The Red Devils improve to 4-2 on the season. They are scheduled to face Springfield on Thursday and close out the week with a match against Colorado College on Friday.
