(Fredericksburg, Va.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team competed at the ITA Division III Southeast Women's Tennis Regional Championships over the weekend.
Senior Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) won a pair of opening round matches, playing the singles flight-C and joining Emily Sprague (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) in the B-Flight in doubles. Fox posted an 8-1 win in singles, turning back Sarah Evenson from Haverford before dropping an 8-3 setback to Virginia Wesleyan's Christine Zalamada.
Fox and Sprague had a solid win in doubles, advancing with an 8-2 victory over Stevenson University before playing to an 8-6 setback against Christopher Newport's Ana Clara Borga.
Sophomore Hanna Butler (Gibson Island, Md./Severn School) defeated Salisbury's Taylor Cooper (2-6, 7-5, 6-3), but fell to Carnegie Mellon's Janabelle Wu in the round of 32. Butler joined Neve Brennan (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) in a hard-fought match against Washington College in a 9-7 setback.
The Red Devils return to action on October 4th, traveling to Goucher College for a 3:00 pm match with the Gophers.
