(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team won its Centennial Conference opener with a 9-0 shutout at Muhlenberg College on Saturday.
The Red Devils jumped out to an early lead, claiming all three doubles matches while surrendering just two games.
Rachel Flame (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) and Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) rolled to an 8-0 victory in the top doubles flight. Flame allowed just one game in a straight-set win at number-one singles while Shea added a (6-2, 6-3) decision in the sixth.
Lexi Epstein (Falmouth, Maine/Waynflete) and Emily Sprague (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) claimed straight set wins in the second and fourth flights after combining for an 8-2 win in doubles.
Lydia Fox (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Arlington) won the fifth single flight in straight sets (6-1, 6-0) to complete with sweep.
The Red Devils move to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference. They host Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
