Bears Slip Past Women's Tennis 5-4

(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's tennis team had strong outing on Saturday but suffered a heartbreaking 5-4 setback at Ursinus College.

The Red Devils had a strong start, leading 2-1 after doubles. Emily Sprague (South Burlington, Vt./South Burlington) and Rachel O'Brien (West Roxbury, Mass./Dana Hall School) turned in a dominant performance to win the second doubles flight, 8-1.

Lexi Epstein (Falmouth, Maine/Waynflete) and Neve Brennan (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) held off Jessica Leach and Madisen Harvey 8-5 in the third flight.

O'Brien claimed her second point of the match with a (6-4, 7-5) win in fifth singles flight. Olivia Shea (West Hartford, Conn./Kingswood-Oxford) earned the point at number four singles with a (6-2, 6-2) victory.

The Red Devils move to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in the Centennial Conference. They return to action on Wednesday, hosting McDaniel College at 4:00 pm.
