Suess Earns Two Golds as Red Devils Claim Third

(Collegeville, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's track & field team placed third at the 2018 Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships at Ursinus College. Johns Hopkins won the team title with 237.5 points with Swarthmore coming in second with 121.5. The Red Devils combined for 95.5 points on the weekend.

Sophomore Natalie Suess (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) crushed her personal-best to capture gold and win the 400 meters, clocking a time of 57.88 and was fourth in the 200 meters with a mark of 26.22. Liana Tabtiang (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) was seventh in the both the 200 and 400 events.

Tabtiang ran the lead leg while Suess anchored the winning 4x400 relay with a time of 4:02.01. Allyson Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) clocked a time of 2:18.22 to place fifth in the 800 and joined sister Sarah Yanega (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) in the 4x400 as well.

Kelsey Horowitz (Stow, Mass./Nashoba Regional) ran to sixth in the 1500 meters and fifth in the 5000, flanked by Sofia Canning (Portland, Maine/Waynflete) in fourth and Tessa Cassidy (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) in sixth.

Senior Niomi Phillips (Oakmont, Pa./Riverviewf) scored with an eighth place showing in the javelin, covering 30.86 meters.

The Red Devils travel to the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday, May 13.
