(Swarthmore, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's volleyball team opened Centennial Conference play at Swarthmore College on Saturday, suffering a 3-0 setback to the Garnet.
The hosts had a strong start, claiming the first two sets, 25-10 and 25-12. The Red Devils closed the gap to 25-19 in the third set.
First-year Tatiana Lopez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Puertorriqueno de Ninas) tallied 10 digs while classmate Jamie Singer (Livingston, N.J./Golda Och) led the Devils at the net with five kills. Norma Jean Park (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) added four kills and a pair of aces on the day.
Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./Short Lakes) and Alex Berezan (Surrey, B.C./Earl Marriott Secondary) each handed out five assists while Allgaier picked up five digs as well. Sophomore Jacqueline Banker (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Archbishop Malloy) chipped in with eight digs.
The Red Devils slip to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in the CC. They return to Carlisle for their home opener on Wednesday, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 7:00 pm.
