In the opener, the Red Devils jumped out to 7-3 lead but later had to rally past the Comets and hold on for a 26-24 decision in the opening set. The second was back and forth as well with the teams playing to a 19-19 tie. Dickinson capitalized on some hitting errors and a final kill from Kristin Allgaier (Reston, Va./South Lakes) for a 25-22 win.

The Devils rolled to an 11-4 start in the third set on the way to a 25-19 set-win to claim the match.

The hosts jumped out to an 11-5 advantage in the second, but the Devils rallied and pulled even at 15-15. Gallaudet went on a run to force a Dickinson timeout at 21-17. They came out of the break and cut the deficit to 22-21.

That forced a timeout from Gallaudet and the Devils closed it out 25-23, to lead the match 2-0, behind strong play at the net from Singer and Albertsen.

Gallaudet led 5-1 before the Red Devils pulled even and the teams went back and forth once again. The Bison stretched the lead to 24-18, but the Devils rallied to cut the margin to 24-22 before the hosts earned the final point to force a fourth set.

Lopez served up a pair of aces and a balanced offensive attack kept the Devils alive during the run.
