(Swarthmore, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College women's basketball team turned in quite an
offensive performance on Tuesday night, posting a 94-85 win on the
road at Swarthmore. |
The normally defensive minded Red Devils found themselves in a
horse race, trailing the Garnet 44-39 at halftime. Swarthmore
stretched the lead to seven before the Devils made a 12-3 run to
pull in front at the 13:51 mark.
Swarthmore took the lead for the last time, 61-60, on a Kathryn
Stockbower (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) free throw with
11:39 remaining in the game.
First-year Belma Mekic (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar
Cliff) drained a three-pointer to put Dickinson ahead
for good just 10 seconds later. The Devils built the lead to as
many as 14 with just under seven minutes to play.
The Devils held a 10 point lead down the stretch as they improve
to 3-0 and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference.
Junior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair
Academy) scored a career-high 24 points, hitting
11-of-14 shots from the field. She added six rebounds, two assists
and two steals on the night.
Three Red Devils finished with 14 points. Brooke
Muller (Northampton, Pa./Whitehall) added six
rebounds, three assists and three steals. Carole
Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and Mekic
each tallied 14 as well.
Sophomore Taylor Miller (Red Lion, Pa./Red
Lion) scored nine points to go with four assists and
a game-high five steals. The Devils forced 27 turnovers and made 17
steals overall for the game.
Dickinson returns home to host Muhlenberg College on Tuesday,
December 1st at 7:30 pm.
