| (Haverford, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College women's basketball team closed out the semester
with a big Centennial Conference win at Haverford, topping the
hosts 81-70. |
The Red Devils doubled-up the 'Fords in the first half, taking a
38-19 lead at the break. Five different players scored as the
Devils jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the opening six minutes. The
Devils forced 18 turnovers and made 10 steals in the first
half.
Haverford drained a three-pointer to start the second period
before a 15-6 run gave the Devils their biggest lead of the
afternoon at 53-28.
Dickinson led by as many as 27 in the second half. The 'Fords
made a late run to cut the final margin to 81-70.
Four Red Devils reached double-figures, led by a team-high 23
points from senior Brooke Muller (Northampton,
Pa./Whitehall). Muller went 6-for-6 from the line while
dishing out nine assists and recording six steals.
Junior forward Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair
Academy) had another outstanding performance as well.
She hit a remarkable 8-of-9 field-goals for 19 points to go with
seven rebounds in just 21 minutes of action.
Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston
Churchill) tallied 11 points and five rebounds while
first-year Belma Mekic (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar
Cliff) chipped in with 10 points. Dana
Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) came off the bench
to grab six rebounds and make five steals.
Nina Voith (Philadelphia, Pa/Germantown Friends) led Haverford
(3-5, 1-4) with a game-high 24 points, hitting 11-of-12 free
throws.
The Red Devils improve to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial
Conference. They return to action on January 6th, hosting Ursinus
College at 6:00 pm.
