(Carlisle, Pa.) - The Dickinson
College women's basketball team went on 10-0 run at the end of the
first half and held on for a 68-61 win over visiting Johns Hopkins
on Saturday afternoon. |
The teams stayed within three points of each other for the
better part of the first half. The Devils scored 10 straight in the
final 3:09 of the first half to stretched a one-point lead to a
37-26 advantage.
The Blue Jays chipped away at the lead, pulling within a basket
at the 13:45 mark. The Devils led the entire second half, pulling
back in front by 11 with just over six minutes remaining in the
game. The Red Devils hit six straight free throws down the stretch
to help secure the win.
Senior Brooke Muller (Northampton,
Pa./Whitehall) led the Devils with 14 points and
game-highs of nine rebounds and four steals.
First-year Lindsay Finnerty (Tenfly,
N.J./Tenafly) added 12 points, hitting two
three-pointers and shooting 4-for-4 from the line.
Junior Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston
Churchill)reached double-figures with 11 points, adding
six rebounds. Classmate Alesha Sisco (Effort,
Pa./Blair Academy) turned in another strong
performance with 10 points, seven rebounds and a pair of
steals.
First-year Alex Vassila (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) led the
Blue Jays (4-3, 2-3) with 15 points and nine rebounds while Lyndsay
Burton (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Catholic) added 11 points and
with rebounds.
The Red Devils improve to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the Centennial
Conference. They travel to Elizabethtown for a 7:30 tip-off on
Tuesday night.
