(Collegeville, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College women's basketball team improved to 12-4 overall
and, more importantly, 8-4 in the Centennial Conference with a
68-55 win at Ursinus on Saturday. |
Junior Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston
Churchill) led the Red Devils with a game-high 22
points, hitting 9-of-12 shots from the field. She also controlled a
game-high seven rebounds and made five steals.
The Red Devils went on a 17-5 run to take a 26-14 lead in the
first half. Sophomore Taylor Miller (Red Lion, Pa./Red
Lion) scored to end the half, putting Dickinson in
front 35-21.
The Devils struck first after the break and held a double-digit
lead throughout the second half. They stretched the margin to as
many as 18 down the stretch.
Miller went 6-for-7 from the floor, scoring 12
points. Brooke Muller (Northampton,
Pa./Whitehall) went 5-for-6 from the foul line,
adding nine points on the day.
Lindsay Finnerty (Tenafly,
N.J./Tenafly) chipped in with seven points, four
rebounds and three assists. Alesha Sisco (Effort,
Pa./Blair Academy) tallied seven points and three
assists as well.
Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) hit
4-of-5 free throws, scoring eight points while Bridget
Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) dished
out a game-high four assists.
Amber Yacenda led the Bears (7-10, 5-8) with 12 points, hitting
4-of-5 three-pointers.
The Red Devils return home to host Gettysburg College on
Wednesday at 6:00 pm.
