(Gettysburg, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College women's basketball team suffered a 49-33 loss on
the road at Gettysburg on Wednesday night. |
Following a low scoring start for both teams Gettysburg built an
eight point lead midway through the first half, pulling in front
19-11 at the 8:18 mark. The Devils closed out the half with a 10-2
run to tie the game, 21-21, at halftime.
The second half started similar to the first with the Bullets
taking a 26-25 lead with 14:54 remaining in the game. Gettysburg
stretched the margin to nine with 8:21 left to play.
The Devils would pull within five at 37-32 on four straight free
throws by Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair
Academy) at the 7:28 mark.
The Devils were held to just one free throw from that point as
Gettysburg improved to 22-2 overall with the win.
Sisco hit 4-of-7 shots and 5-of-6 free throws for a team-high 13
points, adding eight rebounds on the night. Carole
Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) added 12
points on 5-of-8 shooting, controlling six rebounds and making
three steals.
Julie McGrory led the Bullets with 15 points while Courtney
Fields recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Red Devils (15-8, 11-8) travel to Franklin & Marshall on
Saturday for the regular season finale. They will face Johns
Hopkins next Wednesday night in the opening round of the Centennial
Conference playoffs. The site will be determined based on
Saturday's results.
