(Allentown, Pa.) - The
Dickinson College women's basketball team suffered a 62-50 loss to
host Muhlenberg in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference
playoffs. |
The Mules struck first and jumped out to an early 11-6 lead. The
Devils were within four at the midpoint of the half before a 10-2
run gave Muhlenberg a 27-15 advantage with 7:01 remaining in the
half.
Muhlenberg led 35-20 at the break. The Devils tightened up the
defense to start the second half, playing even with the Mules for
the opening eight minutes. The Devils cut the deficit to nine at
the 8:23 mark, and again with 7:06 remaining in regulation.
The Mules held on and shot well from the line down the stretch.
They advance to the final tomorrow against either Gettysburg or
McDaniel. Tip-off for the championship is set for 2:00 pm.
Senior guard Brooke Muller (Northampton,
Pa./Whitehall) led the Red Devils with 15 points, six
rebounds, five assists and three steals. She went a perfect 6-for-6
from the line.
Junior Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair
Academy) went 4-for-7 from the field, scoring 12
points to go with six rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
Classmate Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston
Churchill) added eight points and seven rebounds.
First-year Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre
Dame de Namur) scored eight points and controlled
five rebounds, hitting 4-of-6 shots on the day.
The Red Devils slip to 17-9 on the season, making their sixth
consecutive Centennial Conference playoff appearance.
