(Allentown, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team kept battling but eventually fell 68-52 at Muhlenberg on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils trailed just 9-6 before a 10-3 run stretched the Mule advantage to 19-9. They continued to build the lead, extending the margin to 33-11 at the 2:57 mark. The Red Devils closed out the half with a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to 35-20 at halftime.
Muhlenberg went in front 40-22 with the help of an early three-pointer from Alexandra Chili before the Devils answered with strong play from senior Carole Dempsey (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and a three-pointer from Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) to cut the deficit to 11 with 15:35 remaining in the game.
The Mules built the lead to 54-33 at the midpoint of the second half. The Red Devils chipped away at the lead, pulling within 13 at the 5:17 mark. Kelly McKeon hit a three-pointer to trigger another Mule run that extended the lead to 66-49 with less than two minutes to play in the game.
Muhlenberg would hold on to improve to 16-5 overall and 12-4 in the Centennial Conference, avenging a 63-60 loss to the Devils on January 6th. McKeon led four Mules in double-figures with a game-high 17 points, adding three assists and three steals.
Alesha Sisco (Effort, Pa./Blair Academy) went 5-for-5 from the free throw line, scoring a team-high 15 points to go with five rebounds. Dempsey finished with 10 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a pair of blocked shots.
Borgese tallied nine points and dished out five assists. Annie O'Donnell (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) scored eight points.
The Red Devils slip to 8-13 overall and 6-11 in the CC. They return home to face Bryn Mawr College on Saturday at 2:00 pm.
