(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson College women's basketball team, already shorthanded, went up against visiting Ursinus College without lone senior and injured point guard Taylor Miller (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion). The Red Devils, just eight deep, held their own until a late run in the first half put the Bears in control of the game. Ursinus would go on win the game, 60-48.
Following a 7-2 start for Ursinus the Devils answered and would later trail just 14-10, with 11:32 to play in the half. The Bears put together a 13-4 run for their biggest advantage of the half, 31-16, at the 3:14 mark. They would head into halftime with a 34-20 lead.
The Bears continued to build on the lead in the second half, stretching the margin to 53-28 at the midpoint of the second half. Ursinus remained in control for the remainder of the contest but the Red Devils did show some life with a later rally.
The Devils battled back from a 23-point deficit, closing out the game with a 13-2 run for the final of 60-48.
Junior Dana Walsh (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) matched a game-high with 16 points, adding eight rebounds and three assists. She hit 6-of-9 shots from the floor and went 4-for-6 from the free throw line. Classmate Bridget Borgese (Swarthmore, Pa./Notre Dame de Namur) scored 16 as well to lead the Devils, adding five rebounds. She hit 5-of-8 from the field and 6-of-8 from the charity stripe.
Alli Rosati led Ursinus (10-9, 9-5) with 16 points and five rebounds.
The Red Devils slip to 2-17 overall and 2-12 in the Centennial Conference. They travel to McDaniel College on Wednesday for a 6:00 pm tip-off.
