(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's and women's swim teams both placed fourth at the Gettysburg Invitational this weekend. The Red Devils, with significant injuries on both sides, faced some strong competition in Johns Hopkins, Gettysburg and the University of Mary Washington.
Senior Jason Adams (Kingston, Jamaica/Kent School, Conn.) had a solid day. He placed fourth with the 400 medley relay, swimming the lead leg (3:29.73). He added a sixth place finish in the 100 butterfly, and seventh with the 800 and 200 free relay teams.
The Red Devils went 5-6-7 in the 100 breaststroke. Brandon Gauthier (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) led the way with a time of 1:01.46. First-year Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) was sixth (1:01.56), followed by Michael Lenker (Sparta, N.J./Sparta)in seventh with a time of 1:01.75.
Gauthier joined the 400 medley relay, and had seventh place showings with the 800 and 200 free relay teams. First-years Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) and Eaton swam the other two legs of the medley relay. Bennett joined the 800 and 200 free relays as well.
Junior Caroline Brennan (Madison, N.J./Madison) swam to third in the 500 freestyle (5:09.32) and placed fourth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.20. She added a fifth with the 800 free relay and finished eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:58.99).
Sophomore Caitlin Klockner (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) swam the lead leg of the 800 free relay (8:12.55). She placed sixth in the 400 individual medley (4:48.20) and eight in the 50 freestyle (25.18), and with the 400 medley relay.
First-years Jacqulyn Teller (Woodbury, N.Y./Sysosset) and Lindsay Morton (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) joined the 800 free relay.
Johns Hopkins claimed the team titles on both sides, while the Gettysburg men placed second. The Red Devils travel to Messiah College on December 3rd for a 7:00 pm start.
