(Lancaster, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team traveled to Lancaster to face Franklin & Marshall in the regular season finale. The Red Devils spoiled senior day with a 79-58 win at the Mayser Center.

First-year Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) put the Devils in the board with a strong move inside, drawing a foul for a three-point play. Lesher traded field-goals with the Diplomats to give the Devils an early, 5-4, advantage.

Mary Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) went to the line, hitting one, and Jennifer Smith (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) grabbed a rebound and scored to stretch the lead to 8-4, with just under 15 minutes remaining in the half.

Leslie Bacile countered with a nifty reverse lay-up for F&M and sophomore Ellen Bair (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) answered immediately with a baseline drive. Bacile knocked down a jumper on the other end as the scoring started to pick up at the midpoint of the half.

Bair gave Dickinson a 12-8 advantage and F&M was whistled for its fifth foul, following a rebound from Martin. The Devils picked up their first foul of the game at the 12 minute mark.

The Devils committed three straight turnovers, but also forced three straight missed field-goals on the defensive end to keep the four point advantage. Junior Sam Kennedy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) added to that with a three-pointer from the top of the key, forcing a timeout with Dickinson on top, 15-8, with 9:34 remaining in the half.

Martin traded field-goals with Devandria Bernard and Caroline Studnickey scored off a baseline jumper to cut the deficit to five. Bair scored with a spin move down the middle for a 19-12 advantage.

The Diplomats gained some momentum, scoring on a put-back and knocking down a three-pointer to pull within a basket. They forced a turnover and drew a foul, but missed both free throws. She controlled the rebound but couldn't capitalize with the follow up.

Bernard tied the game with a jumper at the five minute mark. The Diplomats looked to take the lead on a long three-pointer but Lesher came away with the rebound and first-year Myonie Williamson (Newtown Square, Pa./Radnor) did drain a long three for the Devils.

A pair of trips to the free throw line allowed F&M to pull within one, 22-21. They took the lead on a three-pointer from Bacile at the 1:20 mark. Shannon O'Connor capitalized on a Diplomat steal, converting a pair of free throws to give F&M a 26-22 lead.

Kennedy traded lone free throws with Studnicky and Lesher got the roll as pull within two, 27-25. The Diplomats had a final shot attempt in the final seconds but Bair blocked the shot and time expired.

The second half started almost the opposite of the first with both teams coming out strong on the offensive end. The Red Devils struck first and pulled in front on quick baskets from Bair and Martin.

F&M rallied to pull in front 35-33, before Kennedy drained a three-pointer from the top of the arc for another lead change. Studnicky and Erica Brown traded baskets with Martin, and Williamson put Dickinson up, 40-39, with a pair of free throws.

Kennedy tacked on a pair of free throws and Smith drove to the basket for a five-point Dickinson lead. Williamson buried another three-pointer and banked in a jumper to give the Devils a double-digit lead at the midpoint of the half.

Williamson hit another field-goal and Smith got ahead of the field to force another timeout, leading 53-39. The Diplomats continued to struggle and Smith scored inside and Williamson drained another triple to extend the run to 20-0.

F&M finally broke up the run, but Williamson answered with a three-pointer and break-away lay-up, stretching the margin to 63-41, with 7:20 remaining in the game. That forced another Diplomat timeout as the Devils had quickly taken control of the game.

The Diplomats looked to make a run, scoring eight straight to cut the deficit to 63-49, with just under six minutes to play. Martin ended the run with a pair of free throws. The Devils made two strong defensive stands before Brown slipped in for a lay-up.

Martin drained a foul line jumper and the Devils held again, taking possession with a 67-51 lead at the 2:30 mark. Martin sank a pair of free throws hit another foul line jumper to extend the margin back to 20.

Bacile put-back a miss and Burnett converted a three-point play, and almost another as F&M continued to battle in the end.

The Red Devils closed out the season as the three seniors, Liz Schultz (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Prep), Sarah Phillips (West Amwell, N.J./South Hunterdon) and Ashley Kinney (Somers, Conn./Somers) hit the final three baskets for the Red Devils, for the final of 79-58.

Williamson scored a game-high 20 points, hitting 7-of-8 shots, including 4-of-5 three-pointers. Martin tallied 19 points and controlled 11 rebounds, hitting 7-of-8 free throws on the day.

Bacile led the Diplomats (5-20, 2-16 CC) with 12 points and eight rebounds. Sarah Haddon finished with nine points and eight rebounds.
