Lesher Tallies Career-High at Gettysburg

Box Score

(Gettysburg, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team had a strong start at Gettysburg on Wednesday night, jumping out to an early lead. The Bullets would answer however, and go on to claim a 56-42 decision.

Sophomore Helen Roberts (Oakton, Va./Oakton) knocked down a three-pointer to put the Devils out in front, 9-5, and first-year Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) made a nice move inside to counter a Gettysburg basket to lead, 11-7.

Senior forward Samantha Pagel went to work for Gettysburg, scoring seven straight points to give the hosts a 14-11 lead. She continued to lead the charge, putting the Bullets in front 20-13.

First-year Myonie Williamson (Newtown Square, Pa./Radnor) made an immediate impact, knocking down a three-pointer to pull the Devils within four.

Sophomore Jennifer Smith (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) came off the bench to knock down back-to-back jumpers as the Devils trailed, 30-20, at halftime.

The Red Devils came out of the break and made another strong start to open the second half. Mary Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) scored inside before Sam Kennedy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) and Liz Schultz (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Prep) connected from three-point range to cut the deficit to six, 34-28.

Gettysburg put together an 8-3 run to stretch the margin to 44-31, with just under nine minutes to play. Williamson answered on the other end, hitting her second three-pointer of the game.

Lesher continued to play strong inside, looking to keep pace with the Bullets in the paint. She scored on a nice feed from Martin and sank a pair of free throws to make the score, 50-38.

The Bullets tacked on three points before free throws from Kennedy and a great cut and score by Martin cut the deficit to 11. Pagel answered with a three-point play for the final score of 56-42.

Lesher had another outstanding game on the boards, matching her career-high with 14 rebounds, reaching double-figures for the third straight game. She added nine points with the help of sophomore guard Ellen Bair (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) who dished out six assists on the night.

Martin and Williamson each finished with six points while Kennedy tallied five points and three blocked shots.

Pagel led Gettysburg (14-5, 8-5) with a game-high 21 points while Emily Gibbons added 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Red Devils slip to 4-16 overall and 2-13 in the Centennial Conference. They are on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Ursinus College for a 1:00 pm start.
