(Ithaca, N.Y.) – The #26-ranked Dickinson men's squash team suffered an 8-1 setback to #18-ranked Williams and dropped a 9-0 decision to #23-Western Ontario at the Cornell Round Robin on Saturday.
Sophomore Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School) had a strong match in the top flight. He rallied after dropping the first two sets (11-9, 11-8). He claimed the third and fourth with scores of 11-9 and 11-4, before falling in the fifth, 11-1.
Sophomores Cory Litman (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) and Vincent Warzecha(Chester Springs, Pa./Malvern Prep) added strong showings in the sixth and seventh flights. Litman fell (12-10, 12-10, 11-5) and Wazecha lost in four (12-10, 11-13, 11-7, 11-7).
On Sunday, the Red Devils claimed the top flight against #10-ranked Cornell as Elsergany overcame a 13-11 first set loss to claim the match (11-6, 11-9, 11-8). The Big Red would take the rest for an 8-1 decision.
Andrew Strudwick (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) had a strong start in the fifth, opening a 2-0 lead with sets of 11-2 and 11-8. Jack Greenwood rallied, however, posting scores of 11-2, 11-9, 11-3 in the final three games for a 3-2 decision.
Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) went (11-7, 11-7, 11-7) in the second flight.
The Red Devils slip to 2-4 on the season. They travel to the Wesleyan Round Robin on December 3rd and 4th.
