Box Score (St. Mary's City, Md.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team had a dominant performance in the consolation game of the Dan Greene Memorial Tip-Off Tournament at St. Mary's College on Saturday afternoon. The Red Devils rolled to an 80-47 win over Delaware Valley College.
The Red Devils almost doubled-up the Rams in both the first and second quarter to take a 37-19 lead at halftime. Delaware Valley came out of the break to score 17 in the third quarter, but the Devils also had their biggest output of the day with 29, to lead 66-36, heading into the fourth.
The Rams led early before the Devils went on a 10-0 run as senior guard Helen Roberts (Oakton, Va./Oakton) hit a pair of three-pointers and two lay-ups. Roberts scored the first 13 points for Dickinson before sophomore Jonica Brown (Mohnton, Pa./The Hill School) added a three-pointer to put the Devils up, 16-7, with 3:19 to play in the first.
The Red Devils continued to control the game in the second quarter, led by strong play inside from juniors Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg), Mackenzie Skerritt (Hightstown, N.J./The Peddie School), and Mairead Donahue (Turmball, Conn./St. Joseph).
Skerritt started off the second half with a three-point play and Roberts would drain a trio of three-pointers in the period to match the third-best single-game total in program history with six on the afternoon.
Lesher had another strong quarter in the fourth and first-year Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) gave the Devils strong minutes throughout the game as well.
Roberts led all scorers with a game-high 23 points, adding three assists and four rebounds. Lesher was named to the All-Tournament Team, controlling 16 rebounds to give her 33 for the tournament. Lesher tallied nine points and a pair of blocked shots as well on Saturday.
Heiring reached double-figures with 10 points, adding five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a blocked shot. Classmate Lauren McBride (Trenton, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) hit 4-of-5 shots for 10 points and had two assists. Senior Mary Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) had a solid line with seven points, 11 rebounds, six assists and three steals.
The Red Devils improve to 2-1 on the season. They are on the road again on Tuesday, traveling to Lancaster Bible College for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
