(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's swim team improved to 5-2 on the season, posting a 123-82 win over visiting Messiah College on Tuesday night. The Red Devils swept the 1000 and went two-three-four in the 50-yard freestyle to gain key points on the night.
Sophomore Olivia Lyman (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) claimed three events on the night. Ironically, one was not the 1000 free as she captured the 200 and 500 freestyle events and touched the wall first in the 200 breaststroke.
Senior Jacqulyn Teller (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) scored key points with a second place finish in the breaststroke (1:13.76). She added a win in the 200 individual medley (2:19.56) and was second with the 200 medley relay (1:53.26).
Senior Emily Houser (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) led the way in the 1000 free with a time of 11:10.50 with junior Brenna Nimkoff (Weston, Conn./Weston) and first-year Demetria Ruhl (Wilmington, Del./Wilmington Friends) claiming second and third with times of 11:18.24 and 11:25.00.
Houser added a second place showing in the 500 free (5:29.94) and led-off the second place 200 free relay (1:47.00). Nimkoff joined the free relay as well and was fourth in the 500 (5:35.77). Ruhl anchored the free relay and was fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.87).
First-year Molly Sternick (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) had another strong meet, winning the 100 butterfly (1:00.25) and claiming second in the 50 free (25.72) and with the medley relay. Sophomore Sammy Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) was third in the 50 (25.94) and finished second in both the 100 freestyle (57.28) and as the anchor of the medley relay.
Sophomore Katie Schmidt (Orono, Minn./Breck School) won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.57 and placed third in the 200 free with a mark of 2:02.49. First-year Madeline Callahan (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) led-off the 200 medley relay and was second in the backstroke (1:03.50). She was third in the individual medley with a time of 2:22.56.
Shannon Bonner (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) joined the free relay and Samantha Florio (Stamford, Conn./Wilton) finished fourth in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 27.12.
The Red Devils are in action again this weekend, traveling to the Gettysburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
