(Owings Mills, Md.) – The Dickinson men's swim team scored early and often on the way to a pair of wins over Lycoming College and Stevenson University on Saturday. The Red Devils topped Lycoming (126-74) and posted a 140-30 victory over the host Mustangs.
Senior Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) led the way with a triple-win afternoon, claiming the 50 (22.64) and 500 (5:03.17) freestyle events, and anchoring the winning 200 medley relay to a time of (1:40.64).
First-year Graham Novitch (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) swam the lead leg of the medley relay and added a win in the 100 backstroke (56.75).
Junior Mitch Reynolds (Frederick, Md./Frederick) touched the wall first in the 1000 freestyle (10:29.07) and was just behind Bennett in the 500 with a time of 5:04.33. Senior Brian Reid (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) claimed third in the 1000 with a time of 10:49.36 while first-year James Cummings (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) was third in the 500, coming in at 5:08.06.
Sophomore Kevin Potocki (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt) claimed the 200 individual medley with a mark of 2:04.73, placed second in the 100 free (51.10) and led-off the exhibition 200 free relay for a time of 1:32.72.
Sophomore Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) was double-winner, joining the medley relay and capturing the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.45. Classmate Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, Pa.//Friends Central) won the 200 freestyle (1:50.96) with first-year Will Freeman (Haddonfield, N.J./Pennington School) was second with a time of 1:51.50.
Senior Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) had a strong exhibition swim in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.19), adding win with the medley relay and a bronze in the 50 freestyle, clocking a time of 23.45.
The Red Devils improve to 2-1 on the season. They are on the road again next weekend as they travel to the University of Scranton on Saturday for a 1:00 pm start.
