(Middletown, Conn.) – The Dickinson men's and women's squash teams posted identical 7-2 victories over Colby College on Friday evening.
Playing at Wesleyan College in Connecticut, the Red Devil men claimed the top three flights as Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) overcame an 0-2 start to claim the top flight (7-11, 8-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-8).
Hal Holappa (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and first-year Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) captured the second and third flights, 4-1, while Cory Litman (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) and Vincent Warzecha (Chester Springs, Pa./Malvern Prep) swept the seven and eight spots, 3-0.
Dickinson improves to 3-5 on the season, snapping a five-match slide.
The Red Devil women posted a 7-2 win as well on Friday. Hedvika Suchankova (Olomouc, Czech Republic/St. Michael's) won the top flight in three tough sets (16-14, 11-9, 11-8). Stuart Lemay (Harwich Port, Mass./Westover School, Conn.) won in straight sets and Nicole DeLuca (Newtown Square, Pa./Baldwin School) earned a five-set victory in the third and fourth flights.
The Devils swept the final three flights in straight sets as they improve to 2-3 on the season. The men and women are in action again on Sunday, facing Wesleyan and Bates at 9:30 am and 11:00 am.
