(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson men's swim team battled Swarthmore College right to the end, but suffered a 115-90 setback to the Garnet, in the final dual-meet of the season.
Sophomore Mitch Reynolds (Frederick, Md./Frederick) won the 1,000 yard freestyle (10:12.30) and placed second in the 500 with a mark of 4:57.86.
Junior Alex Bennett (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) touched the wall first in the 500 freestyle, posting a time of 4:57.33. He added second place showings in the 200 freestyle (1:48.84) and with the 200 free relay (1:29.15).
Senior Alan Karickhoff (Willoughby, Ohio/The Hawken School) anchored the free relay and placed fourth in the 200. He tied for third in the 100 freestyle, matching teammate Kevin Potocki (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) with a time of 49.96. Potocki anchored the 400 medley relay to second and placed third in the 50 free, posting a time of 22.79.
First-year Ben Shapiro (Wynnewood, Pa./Friends Central) won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.57. He touched the wall second in the 200 backstroke (1:59.99) and led-off the second place medley relay.
Junior Sam Eaton (Port Matilda, Pa./State College) and first-year Kiernan Jordan (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) joined the medley relay and each posted individual wins on the day. Eaton swam to first in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.83) while Jordan won the 200 butterfly in a time of 1:58.30. Senior Michael Lenker (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) was third in the breaststroke with a time of 2:15.51.
Sophomore Jake Beley (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) placed third in the individual medley while Allen Belo (Odenton, Md./Severn School) and Travis Lipscomb (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) joined the free relay.
The Red Devils finish the regular season 6-4 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference. They are off next weekend to prepare for the conference championships at Gettysburg College on February 19th through the 21st.
