Red Devils Rain School Record 13 Three-Pointers

Box Score

(Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team stormed out of the gates on Saturday and never looked back, rolling to a 78-37 win over visiting Swarthmore College. The Red Devils improve to 12-4 overall and remain tied for first in the Centennial Conference with a 9-2 mark. The Red Devils were deadly from long range, hitting a school record 13 three-pointers on the day.

Back-to-back three-pointers from senior Helen Roberts (Oakton, Va./Oakton) and first-year Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) started things off for the Red Devils as they jumped out to a 14-2 lead in the opening five minutes.

Roberts hit back-to-back triples and first-year Lauren McBride (Trenton, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) knocked one down from long range to stretch the lead to 17-4.

Dickinson was equally impressive on both ends of the floor, taking a 24-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. Things would not improve much for the visitors as the Red Devils kept their foot on the gas pedal as they extended the margin to 46-12 at halftime.

Heiring buried a three-pointer to start the second quarter and McBride would add two more herself as she scored 11 points in the period, going 4-for-4 from the field.

The Garnet was able to produce more offense in the third quarter, but the Red Devils remained consistent with another 24-point output to lead, 70-27.

Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) hit a pair of jumpers before Roberts and McBride sandwiched two more three-pointers around a third from Mackenzie Skerritt (Hightstown, Pa./The Peddie School). First-year Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) came on and hit another three-pointer to close out the quarter.

Becker carried her strong play into the fourth quarter as the Red Devils slowed the pace for the final stanza. Sophomore Jonica Brown (Mohnton, Pa./The Hill School) added a three-pointer, giving Dickinson the school record 13 for the game.

Haley Raymond led the way for Swarthmore (2-13, 2-8) with 12 points while Abigail Pirron added eight.

McBride tallied a game-high 17 points, hitting 6-of-8 shots from the floor while going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. She added five rebounds, two steals and blocked three shots on the afternoon.

Roberts hit four triples as well, finishing with 16 points and three assists. Senior Mary Martin (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale) dished out a game-high four assists to go with five points and six rebounds. Lesher scored seven points, hitting 3-of-4 shots and controlled seven rebounds.

Brown added three assists to her three-pointer while first-year Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) chipped in with five rebounds and four points.

The Red Devils are home again on Tuesday night, hosting Johns Hopkins University at 7:00 pm.
