Box Score (Whittier, Calif.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team headed west to face the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at Whittier College in California, on Friday afternoon. The Falcons used a strong start to post a 58-45 win.
The Falcons closed out the first quarter with a big run to pull in front, 17-7. The Red Devils kept pace in the second period, trailing 35-20 at halftime.
Sophomore Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) knocked down a three-pointer to start the second half as the Red Devils dominated the third quarter, outscoring River Falls, 18-4.
The Red Devils cut the deficit to just a point, 39-38, entering the final period. The Falcons countered with a big fourth to post the win.
First-year Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) led the Red Devils as she returned to her home state, going 7-for-9 from the line, scoring 14 points to go with four rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists.
Heiring finished with a trio of three-pointers, adding 13 points. Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) and Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) combined to go 8-for-10 from the free throw line, each scoring five points. Lesher grabbed six rebounds while Padalino pulled down five.
Mairead Donahue (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph) tallied four points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals while Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Academy) chipped in with four points as well.
Wisconsin-River Falls improved to 8-2 on the season while Dickinson slips to 2-7 overall. The Red Devils return to action on Sunday, returning to Whittier to face Emmanuel College at 3:00 pm EST.
