(Cambridge, Mass.) – The #22-ranked Dickinson men's squash team rebounded on Saturday to hold off Colby College, 5-4, at the College Squash Association Team Championships.
The Red Devils trailed, 2-1, following a pair of hard-fought losses from senior Charlie Fisher (West Hartford, Conn./Conard) and sophomore Harrison Mayo (Penn Valley, Pa./Harritan), in the number nine and number six flights.
First-year Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) earned the Devils' first point of the day, surviving a tough match in the third flight, (13-11, 11-7, 11-9).
Sophomores Andrew Strudwick (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest Academy) and Vincent Warzecha (Chester Springs, Pa./Malvern Prep) came away with big points in the number five and seven flights. Strudwick claimed an (11-6, 7-11, 11-3, 11-7) decision while Warzecha won in straight sets (11-4, 11-6, 11-7).
The Red Devils needed to capture their final two flights to win the match. Sophomore Cory Litman (Lower Merion, Pa./Lower Merion) rallied in a great match to capture the fourth spot and classmate Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School) held on 14-12 in the third to claim the top flight (11-3. 11-5, 14-12).
The Red Devils improve to 10-12 on the season. They will face MIT on Sunday morning at 10:00 am, looking to move up to a #21-ranking in the consolation final.
