Lesher Records 900th Rebound in Red Devil Win

(Westminster, Md.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team had a great start and used another strong third quarter to escape with a 56-53 victory at McDaniel College on Wednesday night. Senior Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) had another huge game, scoring 22 points and controlling 16 rebounds.

Lesher becomes the second player in program history to record over 900 career rebounds, overtaking recent Hall of Fame inductee Ally Teatom Fullmer '07, for second all-time with 909.

The Red Devils stormed out to a 10-2 lead and held a 21-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Lesher led a balanced attack to put Dickinson in front early.

McDaniel had a strong second quarter, outscoring the Red Devils, 11-5, to trail 26-21 at halftime.

The Red Devils regrouped and stretched the lead to 45-29 behind a seven-point third quarter from Lesher and a late three-pointer from sophomore Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends).

McDaniel made a furious comeback, tying the game, 50-50, with just over two minutes remaining. Lesher and Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) hit free throws, and Becker grabbed a defensive rebound and scored to put Dickinson up, 55-50, with 35 seconds on the clock.

The Green Terror knocked down a three-pointer and Lauren McBride (Trenton, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) added another free throw for the final of 56-53.

Lesher went 10-of-16 from the free throw line, controlling six rebounds on the offensive end and blocked a pair of shots. Heiring reached double-figures with 11 points, going 4-for-4 from the line, handing out three assists and controlling six rebounds.

Becker tallied seven points and five rebounds while McBride added five points, four rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.

Liv Storer led McDaniel with 15 points and eight rebounds as the Terror fall to 9-10 overall and 7-7 in the Centennial Conference.

The Red Devils improve to 7-13 overall and 7-8 in the conference. They travel to Bryn Mawr College on Saturday for a 2:00 pm tip-off with the Owls.
