(Lancaster, Pa.) – The #18-ranked Dickinson men's squash team suffered its second loss of the season, falling to #17-Franklin & Marshall, 7-2, at the Second Annual Pennsylvania Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) overcame a 1-0 deficit to earn the point in the third fight (10-12,11-2,11-5,11-4).
Junior Abdelrahman Elsergany (Cairo, Egypt/Kent School, Conn.) won the second point in an epic match in the top flight. He held off Shamseldeen Abbas, 17-15, in a thrilling fourth set to claim a 4-1 decision (11-7 , 11-4, 9-11, 17-15).
Sophomore Sergio Martin (Querétaro, Mexico / Redwood, Calif.) had a strong match in the second flight, falling in five sets (10-12, 11-3, 11-8, 9-11, 13-11).
Classmate Tunay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur, India/Delhi Public School) rallied to force a fifth set in the fifth before dropping the flight (6-11,12-10,11-8,3-11,11-7).
The Red Devils slip to 0-2 on the season. They return to the Kline Center for their home opener next Saturday, hosting Bates College at 1:00 pm.
