(Carlisle, Pa.) – The #17-ranked Dickinson men's squash team had a big challenge on Sunday, hosting the #4-ranked Saints of St. Lawrence University on senior day. The visitors would capture the match, 9-0, and claim possession of the inaugural Saints-Devils Cup, in the first meeting between the two programs.

The Cup is presented to the team with the most combined wins for men and women. In the case of a tie-break, the team with the fewest games surrendered wins the Cup. The Saints edged the Red Devils by just one set after the Red Devils women posted a 9-0 decision on Sunday.

The Saints had a strong start, sweeping the even matches to jump out to a 4-0 lead. First-year Frank Goossens (Schaarbeekstraat, Amsterdam/Vossius Gymnasium) had a strong second set in the number two flight, suffering an (11-5, 12-10, 11-6) decision.

Classmate Tanay Murdia (New Fatehpura Udaipur, India/Delhi Public School) looked to rally in the third set of the sixth flight, but Hussien Elyates held on for the win (11-4, 11-5, 13-11).

Senior Nicholas Struzenski (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) overcame a tough start to put up a solid fight in second and third sets of the nine spot before falling (11-2, 11-9, 11-9).

Alex Wattles (Millbrook, N.Y./Millbrook) had a strong showing in the seventh flight, but dropped a hard fought decision, 3-1 (11-4, 5-11, 11-9, 12-10). Zachary Hollander (Albany, N.Y./Millbrook) captured the first set, but George Willis would rally for the win (7-11, 11-5, 11-3, 11-5).

The Red Devils slip to 9-8 overall. They will now prepare for the College Squash Association team nationals, hosted by Trinity College on February 23-25.
