Box Score (Chestertown, Md.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team closed out the season with a dominant performance at Washington College on Saturday, coming away with a 71-50 victory.
Sophomores Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) and Lizzie Becker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) hit back-to-back three-pointers to open the game and the Red Devils were off and running.
Heiring had another strong start, leading the Red Devils to a 17-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Senior Kassidy Lesher (Shoemakersville, Pa./Hamburg) took control inside in the second quarter, leading the Red Devils to a 35-24 advantage at halftime.
The Red Devils continued to build on the lead in the third quarter as Becker hit back-to-back lay-ups to stretch the margin to 41-26. Washington looked to rally, pulling within eight before Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) hit a three-pointer to stretch the lead by to double-figures.
Washington trailed 48-39 at the end of the third and scored first to open the fourth, pulling within six. Behind strong play from Lesher and sophomore Lauren McBride (Trenton, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's) the Red Devils outscored the Shorewomen, 23-11, for the final of 71-50.
Lesher closed out her career with a monster performance, scoring 23 points and controlling 17 rebounds for her 18th double-double of the season. She moves into ninth all-time in the Centennial Conference with 982 career rebounds.
Maeda finished with 14 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals while McBride reached double-figures with 12 points, adding six rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocked shots.
Becker and Heiring were just shy of double-figures, each scoring nine points. Becker handed out five assists and made two steals while Heiring added five rebounds and three assists.
The Red Devils finish the season 10-15 overall and 10-10 in the Centennial Conference.
