Box Score (Carlisle, Pa.) – The Dickinson women's basketball team closed out the regular season with a 71-64 win over Washington College on Senior Day.
The Red Devils held a slim 12-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter and went into halftime leading 31-28.
Emily Padalino (West Sand Lake, N.Y./Albany Academy) led the way with 10 points while Kate Deutsch (Marlton, N.J./Camden Catholic) added eight and Kate Montgomery (Scituate, Mass./Scituate) tallied six points and four rebounds.
Washington opened the third quarter with a 13-2 run to pull in front by eight with 6:10 remaining in the period.
Senior Hannah Heiring (Wayzata, Minn./Wayzata) hit a pair of free throws and Mia Kolb (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) added a three-point play and a lay-up to cut the deficit to one.
The Red Devils erased a five-point lead at the end of the third as Deutsch hit a shot at the buzzer to put Dickinson back on top, 48-47.
Washington regained the lead before Halle Maeda (Santa Monica, Calif./Mira Costa) knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game with 7:24 remaining.
The Red Devils built a five-point lead, mostly from the free throw line to make the score 63-58 with 3:25 left to play.
Washington made a final push, cutting the margin to a field-goal but Maeda and Maura Leverone (Herndon, Va./Bishop O'Connell) secured the win at the line.
Deutsch led the Red Devils with 17 points and five rebounds while Padalino finished with 12 points. Leverone reached double-figures with 11, hitting 7-of-8 free throws and handing out three assists.
Montgomery pulled down 10 rebounds and scored eight points. Kolb had eight points as well to go with two assists and two steals.
Maeda tallied seven points, five rebounds and three assists and Claudia Maira (Clinton, N.J./North Hunterdon) dished out six assists and controlled four rebounds.
The Red Devils improve to 15-10 overall and 13-7 in the Centennial Conference. They earn the #4-seed in the conference playoffs and will host Swarthmore College in the first round on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
