Women's Swimming Dominates McDaniel in Home Opener

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's swimming team continued their solid start to the 2021-22 season with a dominating 157-46 victory in their home opener over the visiting McDaniel College on Saturday afternoon at the Clarke Aquatic Center.

Dickinson got out of the blocks strong as the team of Olivia Abbott-Havers, Sarah Caron, Kelly Hester, and Hannah Strauss won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.29. They were followed five seconds later by the group of Sophie Laclef, Sarah McHenry, Sarah Mulcahy, and Margie Winter.

Emily Carkhuff claimed the Devils second victory of the day with a time of 11:29.39 in the 1000-yard freestyle. After McDaniel's Hannah Cehelsky earned second Hadley Starr touched the pad at 12:02.56 to finish third. 

Katie Toth and Caroline Christianson put up times of 2:01.08 and 2:04.75 in the 200-yard freestyle to place first and second. Margaux Reyna took fourth with a mark of 2:17.09.

The 50-yard freestyle went to the Devils as well with Caron (26.15), edging out Strauss (26.58). 

Norah Wilson picked up her first win of the season with a time of 2:20.43 in the 200-yard individual medley. Mulcahy came in third at 2:26.57, followed by McHenry in fourth with a time of 2:29.57.

Wilson earned her second triumph of the afternoon touching the pad at 56.51 in the 100-yard freestyle, while Izzy Moes claimed third in 59.36.

DC took four of the Top-5 places in the 100-yard backstroke with Caron winning in 1:00.67, followed by Christianson (1:04.88). McHenry clocked in at 1:06.22 for fourth, while Carrington Bowles earned fifth in 1:10.58.

Abbott-Havers got her first individual win of the day in the 500-yard freestyle hitting the wall in 5:23.51, with Toth coming in second at 5:33.36. Starr completed the Top-3 with a mark of 5:47.46.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, the Devils took the top four places with Hester winning in 1:12.51. Mulcahy took second at 1:15.12, holding off Moes time of 1:15.45, while Mulcahy notched a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:18.61.

The team of Abbott-Havers, Christianson, Toth, and Wilson clocked in at 1:41.37 to win the 200-yard freestyle relay, with Bowles, Carkhuff, Reyna, and Starr finishing eight seconds off the pace.
