Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. - The duo of Gina Neigel and Mia Kolb each hit double-digits on the night as they led a group of ten Devils that scored during a 63-42 rout of the host McDaniel College Green Terror on Thursday night at the Gill Center.
Dickinson took an early lead thanks to Kolb, but Mallory Conroy converted an "and one" opportunity for a 3-2 edge less than two minutes in. The two sides then traded buckets over the next couple of minutes as Caitlin Blackman, Lindsay Hollenshead, and Neigel tallied for the Red and Black to draw even at 7-7. A layup from Montgomery and a free throw by Clair Marion were the points for DC during a 6-3 push from the home side. Dickinson ended the frame scoring the final five of the frame thanks to two at the line from Hollenshead and a triple by Jennifer Kremp to lead 15-13 after one.
The second quarter belonged to Dickinson as the Devils outscored the Green Terror 21-10 during the period. Jumpers by Neigel and Kolb got things rolling and gave DC a 21-15 advantage at the 2:48 mark. Conroy stopped the roll for a moment with a jumper of her own. However, that was immediately answered by baskets for Abby John, Jenna Weinstein, Kolb, and Neigel to extend the visitors lead to double-figures at 32-19 with 2:42 left. The teams exchanged the final eight points of the half to leave DC in front 36-23 at the half.
The third period started out slowly for both sides as there were just seven combined points scored over the opening 3:30 with the Dickinson points coming from Blackman. Kremp would knock down her second trey of the game to make it 43-26 sparking a 9-1 run that ended on a triple from Marion pushing the lead to 49-27 with just over two minutes to go. Four straight by Josey Klingenberg cut it down to 49-30, but Kremp squashed any momentum with her second three-ball of the period leaving the score at 52-32 through 30-minutes.
McDaniel began the fourth strong with a 6-0 run on buckets by Meggie Burgess and Katie Klein cutting the deficit to 52-38. The Red and Black would put the game away for good over the next couple of minutes going on an 11-0 rampage with baskets coming from Ella Smith, Hollenshead, Kolb, and Neigel making it 63-40 with just over a minute left. Jessica Weinoldt got the final score of the night at the 8:52 mark for the 63-42 final.
