Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's basketball team went a blistering 8-16 from the field, including 4-8 from long range in the opening ten minutes to take a 21-8 lead and never looked back as the Red and Black cruised to a 62-38 win over the visiting Ursinus College Bears on Sunday afternoon.
The Devils began the game on a 13-0 run as Caitlin Blackman and Jennifer Kremp each hit from deep while, Mia Kolb and Gina Neigel chipped in as well. Ursinus finally got on the board at the 6:09 mark when Gabby Downs knocked down a triple. Kremp buried her second three-pointer of the frame and Abby John added a layup to extend the advantage to 18-3. Clair Marion dropped the third trey of the quarter for the Red and Black to take a 21-8 lead after one.
Dickinson continued to be scalding hot from the field to start the second as they hit on their first four shots of the period to extend the advantage to 29-8, thanks to Blackman, Kolb, and Kremp. UC picked up the next four points on buckets by Chinwe Irondi and Natalie Mehl. The Devils outscored the Bears 6-3 the remainder of the half as Kate Montgomery, Kremp, and Marion each hit the bottom of the next to give DC a 35-15 edge.
The first four minutes of the third quarter saw the Red and Black extend their advantage to 40-18 as Blackman, Montgomery, and Neigel all scored. Katie McCusker and Neigel traded buckets to hold the margin at 22 (42-20) with 5:01 to go. Sarah DiLello hit back-to-back triples to cut the deficit to 42-26, before Jenna Weinstein beat the buzzer for a 44-26 lead through 30 minutes.
The trio of Blackman, Marion, and Neigel opened up the final frame on a 7-2 run over a four-minute span to push the margin back out to 51-28. Buckets by Marion and Montgomery stretched the lead to 56-30, before Irondi netted four straight. The two sides shared the final dozen points with Lindsey Hollenshead, Blackman, and Weinstein scoring for the Devils to result in the 62-38 final.
