CARLISLE, Pa. - The Dickinson women's swimming team tried to build on their win from Wednesday against York on Saturday afternoon when perennial Centennial Conference powerhouse Swarthmore College came calling to the Clarke Aquatic Center. Unfortunately, for the Red and White they were unable to overcome the Garnet as the visitors picked up a 206-52 win. Prior to the start of the meet Dickinson honored their two seniors
Caroline Christianson and
Caroline Wasielevski.
In the first race of the meet the group of Gella Gerkin,
Isabel McGovern,
Sarah McHenry and
Caroline Wasielevski finished in third with a time of 1:55.26.
The lone Devil in the 1,000-yard freestyle was
Emma Johnston and she put forth a solid effort taking second in 11:05.03.
Tori May occupied the final podium spot for the 200-yard freestyle by touching the wall in 2:02.43, while teammate
Annelyse Warner grabbed sixth at 2:18.82.
Two DC athletes competed in the 100-yard backstroke as McHenry finished fourth (1:03.71) and Isobell O'Connell landed in sixth (1:08.15).
A trio of Red and White swimmers held down fourth through sixth during the 100-yard breaststroke with Gerkin in fourth (1:14.47),
Sydney Farling in fifth (1:14.85) and
Sarah Mulcahy taking sixth (1:17.64).
McGovern finished second within the 200-yard butterfly clocking in at 2:10.10 falling one second off the winning pace of Annaliese Chen (2:09.50).
In her final home meet Wasielevski grabbed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 25.65.
Norah Wilson and
Molly Tate took fifth (26.11) and sixth (27.65) respectively.
Wasielevski then edged out her teammate Johnston for the final podium spot during the 100-yard freestlye 56.94 to 57.11.
In the 200-yard backstroke a duo of Devils competed with McHenry posting a 2:20.83 for fourth, followed by O'Connell in fifth (2:28.95).
First-years Farling and Gerkin competed in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:42.00 and 2:42.86.
May took up second for the 500-yard freestyle by hitting the wall in 5:21.61, while Warner grabbed sixth (6:06.00).
McGovern seized her second second-place result of the afternoon in the 100-yard butterfly by clocking in at 59.15. The trio of Tate (1:05.53), Mulcahy (1:05.84) and
Margie Winter (1:07.43) occupied sixth through eighth.
Johnston collected the final podium slot for the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.22.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay McGovern, O'Connell, Wasielevski and Wilson secured third-place after hitting the wall in 1:43.66, while the other group of Gerkin, Farling, McHenry and Winter clocked in at 1:49.96.

Dickinson (7-4, 2-3 Centennial) returns to action next Saturday on the road in Collegeville to battle the Ursinus College Bears in a Centennial Conference clash at 1pm.
