Dickinson Announces Hall of Fame Class for 2024

CARLISLE, Pa. - Dickinson Director of Athletics Joel Quattrone has announced that eight former Red Devil student-athletes, two distinguished contributors, one campus contributor and one team will join the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame during Red-White weekend from April 26th to 28th.

Let's get to know the inductees a little more:

Brandon Palladino '13 - Men's Lacrosse

Palladino the two-time McAndrews Award winner (2012, 2013), was a main catalyst for the Red and White during a run of four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, which included a trio of Centennial Conference Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013. He was a two-time USILA National Long-Pole Midfielder of the Year (2012, 2013), in addition to being selected as the USILA National Player of the Year for the 2013 campaign in which the Devils went 18-1 and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals after securing their third straight Centennial Conference title. He ended his career in Carlisle with 275 groundballs and forcing 144 turnovers.

Alesha Sisco '11 – Basketball/Softball

Sisco, was a multi-sport athlete at Dickinson participating in both basketball and softball. On the hardwood, she assisted the Devils in making three consecutive Centennial Conference Tournament semifinals and was a two-time Second Team All-Conference selection in 2010 and 2011. She left the school holding the record for consecutive free throws made in a season (34) as well as career field goal percentage at 52.8%. Sisco, also eclipsed the 1,000-point mark finishing with 1,274 to rank 7th all-time in program history, while pulling in 723 rebounds. On the diamond, she started in 120 out of 121 games, while earning a pair of First Team All-Conference honors due in large part to helping the Devils appear in three straight conference championship games. Sisco left holding single season school records for at-bats (1,135), homeruns (11), and putouts (817).

Matt Cherry '13 - Men's Lacrosse

Cherry, was another key cog in that magical run for men's lacrosse from 2010 to 2013 earning three First Team All-Conference honors, while being chosen as a USILA All-American in 2012 (Honorable Mention) and 2013 (First Team). At the time of his graduation he held the school record for career assists (103) and single season assists (35), while ranking fourth in both points (163) and single season helpers (31).

Sean White '12 – Baseball

White, was a huge piece of the Dickinson baseball program during the early 2010s as he earned All-Conference recognition all four years in Carlisle, while also being named to the All-Region Third Team as a senior. When he graduated from Dickinson he held the school record for career starts (37), career complete games (23), career strikeouts (274), career ERA (3.230, career opponent batting average (.232) and career innings pitched (270.2) as well as single-game strikeouts (21). He helped the Red and White to post a pair of 20-plus win seasons in 2011 (21) and 2012 (25).

Abigail (Fergusson) Oblender '06 - Cross Country/Track & Field

Fergusson, had a strong run in Carlisle competing for both cross country and track. In cross country, she was an All-Region selection four years in a row from 2002 to 2005, while earning a trio of All-Conference First Team honors (2003, 2004, 2005). She was a key piece in Dickinson winning three consecutive cross country championships in 2003, 2004 and 2005 as well as helping the Red and White to qualify for the NCAA Championships four times. On the track, she aided the Red and White in winning two Indoor Conference Championships. As an individual she collected a pair of bronze medals at the 2005 indoor conference championships for the 3000m and 5000m.

Sarah (Casey) Polli '09 – Women's Soccer

Casey, put together a solid career at Dickinson helping women's soccer to a pair of conference title matches in 2005 and 2008 as well as an NCAA Tournament run to the Sweet 16 in 2005. The 2008 Centennial Conference Player of the Year and First Team selection finished her time in Carlisle with 28 goals, 9 assists, 65 points and 65 matches started, while also recording seven match-winning goals in one season. The 2008 All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team honoree was also quite strong in the classroom as well earning a place on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll three times.

Veterans – inductees who are listed as Veterans are at least 30 years removed from their date of graduation, and their accomplishments have stood the test of time.

Mark Copeland '91 - Men's Basketball

Copeland, the Team MVP for the 1990-91 season got it done at both ends of the hardwood for the Devils finishing his career with 991 points and 95 blocks. His numbers still are holding strong as his 95 blocks still rank third in program history, while his career .574 shooting percentage from the floor is second best in school history.

Bob McNutt '61 – Baseball/Football

McNutt, was a multi-sport athlete with the Red Devils participating in both football and baseball. He was a standout pitcher on the diamond starting at the time a school record 22 games over his career, posting 17 complete games, striking out 243 hitters averaging 11.39 per nine innings and putting together a string of 20 consecutive scoreless innings all of which were school records at time of graduation. As a member of the football team he was named the Devils Most Valuable Running Back for the 1960 season. Later on he became a high school tennis coach where he racked up the awards being named Coach of the Year six times, while helping his school to six State Titles and a dozen Conference Championships.

Distinguished Contributors – Recipients of the Distinguished Contributor Award have demonstrated leadership, inspiration, talent, sustained support for Dickinson Athletics or achieved outstanding recognition in their athletic field, and/or measurable, sustainable philanthropic support of Dickinson Athletics by their efforts.

Suzie and Habib Gorgi P'14

The Gorgi family has supported major projects impacting Dickinson Athletics including the building of the Durden Athletic Training Center, the Dave W. Webster '88 Men's Lacrosse Fund, and the Men's Lacrosse program through the McAndrews Fund for Athletics. Their sustained support for Dickinson Athletics as a parent demonstrates a deep commitment to its past, present, and future success.

Tony Rogers '65

Tony Rogers '65 is an alum of the football and men's golf teams, a member of the Raven's Claw Honor Society, and has been a dedicated fan of Dickinson Athletics both with his time, talent, and treasure. Over the course of his 55 years of giving to the college, Tony has made gifts to 8 different teams, 4 different scholarships, and is a continued supporter of the Dickinson Fund. Tony Rogers has demonstrated his commitment to supporting Dickinson Athletics through generations of coaching staff, leadership, and transition, showing sustained support of all Dickinson student-athletes.

Contributor – Recipients of the Contributor Award must have served Dickinson College as a coach, administrator, manager, trainer or any other capacity that served to make significant contributions to the athletic program and/or the advancement of our athletes

Julie Emrhein – Athletic Trainer

Emrhein spent 20-plus years with Red Devil athletics serving as the Head Athletic Trainer working with all Dickinson student-athletes, while serving as the Senior Woman Athletics Administrator, Director of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Centennial Conference Administrative Delegate at various times during her Dickinson career. Before taking over as the head in 2001 serving in that capacity until 2007. Overall she has achieved so much in her 40-year career as an athletic trainer. She has been recognized by her peers at the highest level and it is only fitting that she be honored by the Dickinson Athletics Hall of Fame for her 22-year career with the Red Devils.

Team Award – Teams who are recognized for the team award have made outstanding contributions to Dickinson College Athletics, and have helped to bring recognition, honor, distinction and excellence to Dickinson College and its intercollegiate athletic program.

2013 Men's Lacrosse

The 2013 Men's Lacrosse program was quite the special team under head coach Dave Webster as they won their third consecutive Centennial Conference Tournament crown and advanced all the way to the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals. That team was led by two of this year's Hall of Fame class inductees in Matt Cherry and Brandon Palladino. That season the Red and White went 18-1 with a perfect 8-0 mark in CC play. The trio of Brian Cannon, Brian Gleason and Cherry each posted over 50 points with Cannon pacing the group with 68. Between the pipes Greg Hanley was 18-1 with 7.15 goals against average and a .613 save percentage. The Devils rolled in the conference title game 16-2 over the arch-rival Franklin & Marshall College, before downing Adrian in the NCAA First Round 20-7. Unfortunately, the year came to a halt with a tough 11-9 setback to Salisbury University in the Quarterfinals.
