GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Dickinson women's swimming team kicked off a busy four-day stretch on Thursday night at the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Gettysburg College inside Bullets Pool.
There were just two events contested on the evening starting with the 200-yard medley relay as the unit of
Sydney Farling,
Emma Johnston,
Isobel O'Connell and
Norah Wilson posted a time of 1:53.61 for 12th. Unfortunately, for the Red and White the team of
Bella Gerkin,
Isabel McGovern,
Sarah McHenry and
Caroline Wasielevski were unable to record a time after one of the Devils swimmers left the starting block too early.
Caroline Christianson,
Tori May, Johnston and McGovern had a record-breaking showing during the 800-yard freestyle relay as they set a school record by clocking in at 7:43.03 for fourth which eclipsed the previous mark of 7:46.40 (2/20/2016).
Molly Tate,
Annelyse Warner, Farling and Gerkin landed in 14th at 8:41.62.
Team Scores
At the end of the first night of competition Dickinson sits in a tie for seventh with 46 points joining McDaniel. Swarthmore leads the group on 110 points, followed closely by the host Bullets at 100. Ursinus (80), Franklin & Marshall (78), Washington (74), and Bryn Mawr (60) rounds out the scoring.
