GETTYSBURG, Pa. - First-year women's swimmer
Isabel McGovern set the Dickinson College record for the 200-yard individual medley as her and the rest of the Red Devils moved up into fifth-place after day two of the Centennial Conference Championships at Gettysburg College.
Fellow first-year
Emma Johnston began the action on Friday by claiming the final podium spot for the 500-yard freestyle after clocking in at 5:05.03, while classmate
Tori May was just outside the Top-5 in sixth thanks to a 5:10.72.
Caroline Christianson also competed posting a 5:12.07 for tenth.Â
McGovern then took to the pool for the 200-yard individual medley recording the record-setting time of 2:08.09 for fifth, which beat out the previous DC record of 2:09.02 by Caitlin Klockner during the 2016 campaign.Â
The final event of the evening was the 400-yard medley relay where the team of
Sydney Farling,
Caroline Wasielevski, May and McGovern secured fifth with a 4:02.57. The other Devils unit made up of
Bella Gerkin,
Sarah McHenry,
Norah Wilson and Johnston landed in 12th after hitting the wall in 4:05.60.Â
Team Scores
After a strong day two Dickinson moved up to fifth with 134 points. Swarthmore paces the pack with 345, followed by Gettysburg (259), Ursinus (181) and Franklin and Marshall (170) to round out the Top-5. Three teams sit behind the Red and White as Washington (116), Bryn Mawr (90) and McDaniel (72) make up the rest of the field.Â
