GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Dickinson first-year women's swimmer
Isabel McGovern continued to build on her impressive rookie resume by winning the 100-yard butterfly title to help the Devils maintain their fifth-place standing after three days of the Centennial Conference Championship at Bullets Pool on the campus of Gettysburg College.
Dickinson began the evening session with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of
Caroline Christianson, Isobell O'Connell,
Caroline Wasielevski and
Norah Wilson clocked in at 1:40.33. The other DC crew of
Sydney Farling,
Sarah McHenry,
Molly Tate and
Margie Winter claimed 14th (1:45.79).
Two first-years secured Top-10 results for the 400-yard individual medley as
Emma Johnston and
Tori May hit the wall in 4:37.59 (5th) and 4:38.99 (7th) respectively.
Sarah Mulcahy also competed and took 13th (4:48.82).
McGovern's moment came next event when she clocked in at 56.54 to edge out Gettysburg's Bradley Hawkins (56.87). Her time did not only win the conference title, but set a new Dickinson record breaking the previous mark of 58.18 set back 2018.
Farling fell just outside the Top-10 of the 100-yard breaststroke taking 11th with a 1:11.26, while classmate
Bella Gerkin was in 13th at 1:11.61.
A trio of Devils did battle in the 100-yard backstroke as McHenry (1:01.02), Wasielevski (1:01.18) and Christianson (1:01.34) occupied 14th through 16th.
Team Scores
Dickinson is still holding strong in fifth at 232 points, sitting ahead of Washington (187), Bryn Mawr (137) and McDaniel (107). Leading the pack is Swarthmore with 684 points, followed by Gettysburg (513), Ursinus (306) and Franklin and Marshall (286).
