GETTYSBURG, Pa. - First-year
Isabel McGovern won the lone race of the day for the Red and White to help the Dickinson women's swimming team hold onto a fifth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships on Sunday afternoon at Gettysburg College.
Fellow first-year
Tori May began the day with a fifth-place result in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:53.10.Â
Two Devils competed during the 200-yard backstroke as
Caroline Christianson claimed ninth after stopping the clock in 2:10.02, while
Sarah McHenry grabbed 12th at 2:12.16.
A pair of rookies did battle in the 200-yard breaststroke with
Sydney Farling and
Bella Gerkin posting times of 2:35.69 and 2:39.83 respectively.
McGovern picked up her victory during the 200-yard butterfly as she clocked in at 2:05.59 to hold off Annaliese Chen from Swarthmore and her mark of 2:05.62.
Emma Johnston (2:14.51) and
Sarah Mulcahy (2:12.93) also claimed Top-10 spots.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay the group of
Caroline Wasielevski, Christianson, Johnston and McGovern claimed sixth after hitting the wall in 3:35.80, while the other team of Isobell O'Connell,
Norah Wilson, May and McHenry clocked in at 3:45.62 for 12th.Â
Team Scores
The Red Devils ended the four days with 341 points to hold onto their fifth-place spot. The Garnet of Swarthmore College won the team title thanks to 984 points, followed in the Top-4 by Gettysburg (743), Ursinus (437) and Franklin and Marshall (423). Dickinson was better than Washington (279), Bryn Mawr (182) and McDaniel (146).
